Edward Franz Melcher, a local grocer, opened Hotel Havana in 1914. He constructed it in the Mediterranean Revival style that was popular in Cuba at the time, and many of the palm, cypress, and magnolia trees he planted are still on the property. Hotel Havana has beautiful pine floors, 20-foot ceilings, elegant terraces, shuttered colonial windows, antique furniture, vintage Cuban art, and free Wi-Fi.
